Topic: AORN Guideline for Complementary Care

Objectives:
1. Define complementary care interventions that are used today in perioperative practice.
2.  Identify two common modalities of complementary care delivery.
3.  Explain two of the physiological and psychological impacts for the patient in the perioperative setting.
4.  Discuss the perioperative nurse’s role in complementary care delivery.
5.  Apply AORN’s evidence-based recommendations in providing complementary care during a patient’s surgical experience.
