A Year of Learning Through the AORN Guidelines

This year, our chapter is excited to place a special focus on the AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice—the gold standard for safe, evidence-based surgical care. Every educational presentation and journal club will dive into a specific guideline, helping perioperative professionals strengthen their knowledge and apply best practices directly to their work.

We kicked off the year with an inspiring visit from the AORN Guidelines authors here in San Diego, and we’re keeping that momentum going! From infection prevention to safe surgical techniques, our events will give you practical updates, opportunities to discuss real-world applications, and the chance to connect with colleagues who are just as committed to excellence in perioperative care.

AORN San Diego is offering a grant in the amount of $580 to support one first-time Expo attendee with their conference registration fee.

You may qualify if you:
• Are a first-time AORN Global Surgical Conference & Expo attendee
• Are a current member of AORN of San Diego County
• Have held continuous AORN membership for at least one year

Scholarship Recipients

We’re proud to announce the recipients of our 2025 AORN of San Diego County scholarships!

Catalina Nyberg has been awarded our Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to support her journey toward becoming a nurse.

Jen Johns has received the First Time CNOR Scholarship of $445 to celebrate her achievement in earning CNOR certification and to support her continued professional development.

Congratulations to both of these outstanding individuals! We’re honored to support our members in their growth and commitment to excellence in perioperative nursing.

Our next academic scholarship deadline is June 1st. If you or someone you know is pursuing a nursing degree and has a passion for perioperative care, we encourage you to apply!
